Before we went to New Zealand, I had no idea what Airbnb was. Now, I love it and it is one of the first places we go when looking for accommodation during our travels.
Why? I feel that it can offer a more local experience when traveling. We have been so blessed by our Airbnb stays, from local homestays to renting out entire homes. We have met some incredible hosts who have offered great local recommendations or simply opened up their home and lives for a different cultural perspective. We have also made some wonderful memories with family while using Airbnb as a base for our vacations. And often times it works out to be cheaper for Jared and I to stay at an Airbnb than at a hostel while budget traveling.
We have stayed in over 40 Airbnbs ranging from simple, local homes in Indonesia to restored historical homes in New Zealand and pretty much everything in between, making it quite the adventure in and of itself. Skeptical? I was at first, but I really appreciate that you can honestly review your host and they review you before either party sees the response.
